Dryden Blog

Dryden is a town facing the politics of hydrofracking...

Living in Dryden

One Democrat's perspective on life in the Town of Dryden

What is going on here.....

Howdy folks……..
I have not had much time to post here, since I’ve been busily working on the FlowNewYork website, and trying to keep up with all of the news related to hydrofracking. I started reading up on the process, back in 2008 when I heard rumors about the natural gas under the mountains where I live. At first, I thought this was some amazing extra blessing from God, that I not only live in such a peaceful, rural town with unspoiled panoramic views of the mountains, filled with creeks, rivers, brooks and streams you can drink from, and wildlife flourishing in every nook and cranny, hill and valley, or trail and tree……quaint vacation spots, miles of pine scented forests and all sorts of outdoor activities….but now there would be this bonus of “natural” gas… “clean” energy… jobs for all, improved roads, money for the farmers to provide even more of your meat, dairy and produce…and all of this while being patriotic, providing a much needed cheap and clean energy source for AMERICANS!!!! YIPPEE!!!!!....
And then…the more I read about natural gas drillinghydro-fracturing….hydrofracking… fracking…… the worse I felt about the situation.
I found out that while the actual burning of the methane gas might be less unhealthy than some other fuel sources, the completed process for obtaining that methane was hideously, harmful and destructive in every which way.
As the public awareness of fracking is finally spreading, people are becoming less stifled, less afraid to tell their horror stories of being mislead, bullied, overrun and held over a barrel (so to speak), by the Oil & Gas Industry.
There’s a trail of destruction and damages that leads to a pile of garbage…
(If you’re familiar with the Arlo Guthrie song…the story of Alice’s Restaurant, officer Obie found a note at the bottom of that pile of garbage, but this one is signed by The Oil & Gas Industry and it’s radioactive!)
Anyway… I also found a wonderful group of people who like me; value our health and well being, over any monetary gain that could come from this toxic hydrofracking process….and there are many such groups forming everyday…
I spend much of my time working side by side with these people, battling the politics, the greed and the corruption that comes from the deep pockets of the gas companies, and I post a great deal of the information on the FlowNewYork site,…..
So I have decided that while I will blog here from time to time, I mainly will post the thoughts and stories of other anti-frackers here,…their blogs…..letters….journals…and related materials.
You may or may not agree with what you read here, but you can choose not to read it…
Or maybe you will be inspired by what you read and choose to join the battle against hydrofracking, before your choice is sold by the industry…..
